I have been a mad researcher of everything Paranormal, Extraterrestrial and Cryptozoological, since early childhood.
When not creating electronic music, watching Horror movies and documentaries, archiving and documenting NZ's diverse and ecclectic music history, I have spent countless hours investigating and furthering my research out in the field, either as part of a group or solo, since the early 80's.
I've spent much time in opportunistic investigations whilst travelling around New Zealand and Internationally.
"I believe some things just can't be measured by science alone. It pays to have an open mind but also to think logically, even if it means straying outside the proverbial box."
I have always had an interest in the paranormal and have lived in many "haunted" houses. Some had just a little activity, with just the odd spirit visiting from time to time and others were a little more active, but one escalated over the years to poltergeist proportions! These houses fanned my curiosity and over the years I have spent many hours studying the paranormal and trying to find concrete evidence of a life after death. Through reading, talking with like minded people, experimenting with different communication media, taking numerous photos, hours of video and various other techniques, I have been able to accept that there is probably some form of "life after death". I am however, open-minded about this and will always firstly look for a logical explanation for any so-called paranormal activity. I enjoy helping people to understand what is happening in their home or business. If we do suspect paranormal activity, I may be able to help you with suggestions on different approaches and techniques to try to get the activity to subside or at least be easier to live with. During working hours I am a nanny so have an understanding and interest in children.
My personal belief in the Paranormal is this: There are 2 polar camps; One is the scientists, that believe if you dont follow their limited, modernised view of things, then you may as well talk to rainbows. Then on the other side of things, you have folks that DO talk to rainbows.
I like the very vast field in between. I like the history involved and to confront and understand what used to scare me.
I grew up in a haunted house in England, from the age of 6 until 19. I had many paranormal experiences there, several of which were shared with my younger sister.
This piqued my interest in the paranormal, although it's always been balanced with an academic interest in scientific subjects: going from studying A-Levels in Physics, Chemistry & Biology to obtaining my honours degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford.
My background as a scientist means that I will always seek the rational or mundane explanations first and then see what's left over. I remain fascinated and excited by the knowledge that not everything can be explained by science alone. I am an experienced Priestess, Witch and Initiate of the Mysteries. I'm sensitive to energies and presences and as an empath I pick up and feel the emotions of people and places. Amongst other skills, I am trained and well-practised in techniques for raising energy, healing, psychic self-defense and carrying out energetic cleansings.
I have a geeky interest in photography and technology, enjoy sunny days outside, reading and adoring my Siamese cat.
I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa. I have always had an interest in the paranormal from a young age and had a good couple of personal experiences and actually lived in a few haunted places! This activity of course stoked the interest and so I joined up with a group over there and we did a few investigations in so called haunted locations there and a couple of private residences.
I like to approach all investigations from a scientific point of view, and like to search out the obvious answers before I call something "haunted" or "paranormal".
I am a qualified massage therapist and reiki practitioner. As reiki is working with energy I am interested in how reiki can help you become more in tuned to the energies around us – as this is what is believed to fuel paranormal activity. I am a totally open minded person who comes with a healthy dose of skepticism.
I moved to Auckland about 9 years ago and have been a part of two groups and gained a lot of valuable experience with them and I look forward to experiencing and learning more in the future.
I have been fascinated by the paranormal from an early age and have a keen interest in seeking empirical evidence of phenomena outside the bounds of accepted science. I bring a rational and thoughtful approach to any situation I encounter both during investigations, and in my day-to-day life.
During the daylight hours I am a Business Analyst working in the Telecommunications industry, interpreting data and designing reports for a wide variety of measurements and statistics. Outside of the paranormal my interests include genealogy, astronomy, photography, meteorology, Internet and social media.
I was born in Auckland and during the day am a qualified preschool teacher, so have a great understanding of children. In my spare time I enjoy watching rugby and hanging out with friends. I have always been interested in the unknown and of historical sites since I was a child.
I am sensitive to higher energys and joined the group to learn more about Auckland's historical sites and what they may contain. When I go on an investigation, I go with an open mind and first try looking for logical explanations, before thinking of calling a place 'haunted'.
I developed an interest in the paranormal when I was a kid. Reading books, magazines, comics and watching T.V shows, documentaries and movies. Not only the Paranormal, but the mystical, historical, geneology, myths and legends, as in a way it is all connected. This made me want to learn more about it. I have seen and felt things that have not yet been explained. I have seen strange things in my dreams that come true at a later time. By joining Haunted Auckland, I hope to learn more about not just the paranormal, but also myself.
Ever since I was young I always had an innate sense that the world consisted of different energy frequencies and that 'everything' was made up of this energy, even if it could not be seen with the human eye. Due to this I have always had a fascination with anything that is considered para-normal, psychic phenomena and the like. I would consider myself a healer and sensitive, yet have never followed this path any further. I chose a career (for the meantime) to balance out the more rational / logical side of me - namely Accounting. I am very open-minded, and enjoy learning about the world (and beyond), while at the same time respecting everyone's beliefs; choosing to go by the rule 'live and let live'.
In trying to decide what to say about how I became interested in the paranormal, I realized that I don't remember a time when I didn't have a fascination with it.
Even as a child I owned books about hauntings, watched all the documentaries and shows on the topic and cut clippings from the newspapers about various haunted locations. Aside from the paranormal I grew interests in parapsychology, computers, film and writing. Despite working in retail, I've a Diploma in Interactive Design and am considering going back to study this year. I'm looking forward to seeing the work that goes into an investigation and being part of such an established group.
I have had a passion for the paranormal since before I can remember, in fact all things "out of the norm" of conventional science. There has always been an awareness for me that there is more out there than what is commonly accepted. I had a few experiences as a teenager that really made me stop and think "what was that?" and I wish I had the forethought that I have now to try to collect evidence. For me what I want more than anything is to find irrefutable proof. I want photos, EVPs or anything really that make you stop and think, "wow". I will be taking a very open minded approach to my investigations but will be focussing on eliminating events as evidence more than trying to "make" evidence. The history of buildings and places are also of huge interest to me, I like knowing what has happened there before.
I am a solo mum of two young energetic boys and a lot of my time is spent spending time with them. I work in telecommunications as a provisioning specialist. When I have "me time" I am into, of course, the paranormal, the newest tech gadgets, music of any kind and a good fiction book.
